Abraham Alzoubi

For this project I was to design my classmate Jordan’s Happy Place. For his happy place he requested a lot of space for a woodshop, a paint studio, and a library. He also wanted it to be a bright space with a lot of windows and to make the interior interact with the exterior.

This elevation of Jordan’s Happy Place is showing the connecting of the interior and exterior boundaries. I created large entries and large windows to blurr the boundaries and to also create a lot of natural daylight into the interior.

This is the side elevation of Jordan’s Happy Place. My forms created a back courtyard area, where Jordan is able to work outside and have a garden. I also created a pavilion and a table he can use as storage or as a woodshop. And there is a large window that he can use as a library nook space that connects him to the exterior.

This is the floorplan, displaying the large openings and large windows I placed all over his Happy Place. This was to create easy access to outside, bring in natural light into the space, and to  connect the interior to the exterior.

This section cut shows the reading/library space I created for Jordan that looks out onto a large window. It also shows the pavilion space that connects to the interior, giving Jordan a space to work outside and to store items.

This section cut shows the large openings and entrances into the space.

The Roof Plan shows how I cut into the forms to create openings and how they also create a courtyard space.
