Project X.1, happy place, was an
extension to the formal language of X0 represented through orthographic
drawings. While developing a “happy place” for a classmate, the project
introduces the activities in which take place within building forms, also known
as a projects program. Our client (classmate) provided us with the information
to design an architectural solution to what makes them happy, prompting us to
wrestle with abstraction to include diverse and broad range of activities. Unscalable
stands as a translation of my classmate Jonathon Kim’s Happy place through
built form. Inclusion of an immense variety of aesthetics, and moods John
envisions a sort of “teleportation device” at the “touch of Button” type of
practicality of a constant transferring of different “vibes”. Identifying the
various moods and desires attributed to Johns Happy place created our
programmatic desires and spaces required. Including Cozy, SCIFI, Boston Style
Loft, Meditation, and Nature, outdoors.
Unscalable approaches this seemingly unscalable vision of teleporting and shifting happy places providing the opportunity to project johns desire through an “unscalable representation. The following orthographic drawings including plans, sections, and elevations pursues the possibilities of Johns happy places in the scale of Building, furniture, and trinket. A happy place truly embodying the constant shifting moods and imagination of my client. The desire to shift scales, blurs the lines of reality and true creative happiness

My Comic embarks on the interaction of John and this happy place
architectural embodiment. The comic lays linear but scattered providing
opportunity to read in a multiplicity of directions, providing this sense of
teleportation across the variety of scales. Linear, the comic reads as John
viewing his trinket with all its different hidden slots, pockets emulating the
desire of hidden furniture’s and programmatic desires of John. John then
reflects on the possibilities and dreams to be taken across the variety of
dimensions and scales, unpacking the furniture scale includes all of the
requirements’ tools, gadgets needed to embark on all his happiest desires.
Followed by the potential to explore the intricacies of the design and happy
place at the building scale climbing, training, working, and perching across
the hidden and visible spaces of the form. Concluding with a full circle
process of John looking to find his trinket in his hand.
