Finalizing the semester with an individual effort, we set out to develop our massing models of X.2 to have a sense of life, aesthetics and suggested usage. We were prompted to select representation modes including drawings/images/animations of our choice. The overall project aim is to project the story embedded within the built environment of X.2, elaborating on how the constituency and community experience living and visiting our abstractly located site.

“A New Urban Paradigm” has an overall desire to project an image portraying the benefits of the program and formal language developed within the X.2 project, by my teammates and I. Providing an overall section cut of the site includes the programmatic highlights of the community hinted at through the utilization of the Plinth in X.2. In hopes to translate the overall shift in community engagement and interaction of low-income public housing standards of the Tower and park urban typology, to our developing Plinth and Village approach.

To provide myself with and overall foundation for my design I wanted to focus on translating the urban context, in which the Plinth becomes a building form utilized to engage with the community. The Plinth becomes an activated ground plain in which the community can engage with, above and below the plinth. The utilization of these abstract representations of the ground plains creates, indicates, and differentiates the space underneath the plinth.
