For Project 2 we were tasked with designing a “Happy Place” for a classmate. My “client” was Haley Cope. During our consultations, she noted that she enjoyed an active lifestyle, being in the outdoors and enjoys peaceful, meditative spaces. She wanted her “Happy Place” to be bright with lots of natural lighting with a neutral color palette to give a calm and rejuvenating atmosphere. I chose to design an organically shaped “getaway” structure in the middle of an expansive body of water as a meditative space for Haley.

The front elevation and section is depicted in these images. In the section drawing, you can see organic sculptural stones and foliage that adorn the interior of the structure.

The
side elevation and section is depicted in these images. In the section drawing, you can see how the lighting from the skylight hits the interior of the structure.

The plan view is depicted in this image. A path leads to a glass door entrance that brings you to an interior that contains a variety of flowers, plants and stone sculptures.
