Elevation
For project X1, I designed Michael Natinsky’s happy place, which was derived formally from the five rock-like forms with varying openings from project X0. Openings were added or subtracted, and a permanent structural arrangement of 4 rock-like spaces was formed to suit Micheal’s needs. Micheal’s happy place programming is divided into five different activities in specific areas.

Plan
From the plan and section view, the distinct parallel connections can be seen, which helped to create the overall form. In addition, irregular floor, ceiling, and wall conditions can be seen from the section and how those conditions may affect the user.

Comics
The comics show how Michael may use the space based on each program. First is the art studio, which overlooks the other areas, a place to connect and play games, watch TV, a private peaceful place to sleep, and a small pond or body of water. The formal conditions created by my X0 project created spatial conditions that created design opportunities. The interior created utility surfaces such as the TV wall and the art floor/wall. The angled moments also provided places for bean bag-like furniture to sit for specific activities, like a bed for sleeping or a seat for lounging on.

Final Board
The final board was designed to show the relationship between the ground and the irregular floor surfaces of the building. The structure appears structurally sound and organic on hilly, wild grass.
