Our group designed a community for filmmakers. Based on the group work, I continued to focus on the film set in the center, and also involved some post-production and logistical spaces around it.

I tried to define three different types of performances and how filmmakers transform space to achieve their goals in the set. In my axonometric drawing, they are labeled in three different colors, blue, red and green, while I also tried to show their different operation methods with animations.

(1)The first one, in blue, is a temporary film set. It's kind of like a traditional shooting space, where the crew uses flexible space and temporary props to shape the background they want. For example, these separate architectural elements, walls and roof coverings, they can be moved in different groups to form different spaces.

The second type is a theatre stage-like architectural space, marked in red. I take advantage of the existing building in the site and create a sequence of spaces from it as a starting point. I chose to use a more symbolic architecture prototype rather than a more realistic one, in order to fit the theme of the theater. Here, actors and actresses in performance costumes move through different scenes and perform their lines. And the directors are guiding their blocking and stage movement.

Finally, in green are the green-screen studio and the rooms used for interior shooting. Unlike the previous two, where the walls and actors move, the cameras are moving around the subject under the control of the director. I shaped the traditional interior space by stacking boxes, and at the same time these boxes were able to connect to the post-production studio in the south, making it easier for the staff involved to communicate and collaborate.

In general, the three type of set, blue, red and green, have a decreasing mobility. The blue is the most temporary, the red is intermediate, and the green is the most fixed. I explored the different possibilities of the way the film set interacts with people, props and cameras through them.
