I used ‘Boolean’ as a formal language to generate the model. I started with an intersecting rectangle and circle that create boudaries within the shape. Where the circle and square intersect differentiates which parts of the form are cut out or are extruded. The form plays with negative and positive space within the the intersecting shapes in the parti.

The parti illustrates a set of intersecting lines that meet the edge of the circle. The shape does not have a designated bottom and can be oriented in many different ways, the parti above shows the shape in plan resting on one of the two flat surfaces. The two red lines that form a cross develop meetings points for the other lines. The hatched sections are cut out from the bottom and the sections are extruded out of the shape.

The shape is dynamic and looks as though it could roll away at any time. The intersecting extrusions and subtrctions create varying shadows across the shape.
