For this project, our group decided to focus on designing for the urban low income group. Our site is divided up or collective dwelling space by sectioning off different types of programming, that are connected with a central public space that connects our various architectural elements. Our programs include, residential housing, commercial stores, local food vending, an art gallery for local artists, an eduation center, children daycare, and a community center.

Our collective design includes a plinth that separates shared programming (on the first level) from the residential (from the second level). The plinth serves as a shared public space that can be used by the residents and public.

Since our group used the plinth to connect our sections, I think the form of my design should have some interaction with the plinth. So I choose the floor slab to be the focus of my design. For the façade, I used glass to highlight the horizontal and diagonal lines represented by the floors. The public programs on the first floor are the community center and the art gallery.
